I took a trip to Lori’s Natural Foods today, and found some lovely new things for the warmer weather:

I needed some more honey, which I use for many things, so I decided to try this brand. Boy, am I glad I did!

First, it is locally produced (summer in New York, winter in Florida) and comes from a pesticide-free apiary. Here is what the website says:

We do not use chemicals or pesticides on or near our beehives; instead we opt to use essential oils. This helps our colonies to remain strong and healthy in the face of a national bee decline. We are deeply committed to raising our bees organically; this is who we are, at home with family and in the wild with our bees. Our bees forage only on wildflowers from plants, grasses and trees, far from any contamination. We never heat, filter or strain our honey so that all the nutritional elements are not compromised.

Because of this, the honey contains bits of honeycomb, bee pollen, and propolis, and still contains live enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that processed honey does not.

Finally, it is super YUMMMMMMMYYYYYYYY. I dunked a spoon in and had a hard time stepping away. I mean, look at this stuff:

Seriously, it’s like honey frosting. I plan to put it in frozen fruit smoothies, make some blueberry muffins with it, use it to sweeten my chai, put it in my hair when it gets dried out from the pool chlorine, and use it on my face for a face mask.

For more on the benefits of honey and propolis, click here.

New find number 2:

If you read my blog, you probably know that I am a huge fan of Badger sunblock, and all things Badger. I decided to stock up on the sunscreen today, because we will be leaving for a little vacation in the Adirondacks soon.

I was happy to discover that Lori’s has the sunscreen plus bug repellent, which I’m sure we will need on all of our hiking adventures in the deep woods. Now, don’t worry–there aren’t any chemical bad boys in this product. Just essential oils to help keep the bugs at bay.

New find number 3:

Did you really think I would leave out chocolate? Here’s what I love about this:

It’s organic.

It’s fair trade (meaning that the farmers who grew the ingredients got a fair price for their products and labor).

It does not have soy lecithin–not a terrible ingredient (and almost impossible to find chocolate without it)–but I was happy it was missing.

It tastes fabulous, and the flavors are great for summer–chocolate orange and cherry almond. Mmmmmmmmmm…

More from the website:

Using only pure ingredients that are grown sustainably. We source our ingredients locally whenever possible.

Partnering with our growers by ensuring they earn a living wage and have access to education for their families.

Honoring and respecting our employees and suppliers. This is possible due to the unique fact that we control every step of our own manufacturing process.

Using green energy sources to power our factory.

Using sustainable packaging and printing methods.

Educating about social and environmental accountability 7 days a week through public tours of our artisan factory.

Therefore, I do not care that I have to pay more for this than a Hershey bar. And I find that it is so delicious that I only need a little bit each day. Really. Okay, maybe more on some days.

New find number 4:

Witch hazel by itself is not really a new find for me, since I use it quite often. But I am very excited about this lovely new bottle. Witch hazel is a wonderful all-natural substance. I currently use it for 2 things:

I fill a 4 oz. glass spray bottle with about half water and half witch hazel, then add 30-40 drops of essential oil to make a room spray. This time of year, I make a mixture of 5 drops of peppermint oil, 15 drops of lemon oil, and 10 drops of orange oil. It just smells so summery and refreshing.

I make a facial astringent by mixing 3 parts water, 3 parts rose water, and 1 part witch hazel (or more if necessary). After I shower, I take a cotton pad and wipe this stuff over my face. It helps to combat my occasional acne. I also like to swipe my face with it after I’ve been outside (or inside) sweating for awhile. You can also make this with just water and witch hazel–you don’t need the rose water.

New find number 5:

Tulsi tea is made by a company called Organic India, and this is what they have to say on their website:

At the heart of ORGANIC INDIA is our commitment to promote holistic sustainable development for all beings through organic agriculture. We are committed to service, sanctity and integrity, and to operating an ethical and sustainable business that harms none and benefits all. ORGANIC INDIA is a global leader in promoting organic products and in supporting sustainable farming, wild crafting and village/tribal agricultural communities in India.

So, I feel really good about buying this product. On top of that, I learned that Tulsi is an herb that is also called “Holy Basil,” and has many healing and health benefits:

In India, the herb Tulsi also called holy basil (sometimes spelled “Tulasi”) has been widely known for its health promoting and medicinal value for thousands of years. Commonly called sacred or holy basil, it is a principal herb of Ayurveda, the ancient traditional holistic health system of India.

I bought three boxes: Orange mint, raspberry peach, and chai. They are all wonderful. There are directions on the side of the box for making iced tea, so I am going to try and make a little iced chai with some milk and some of that new, beautiful honey.

I’m off to enjoy! Hope you do, too.

Peace.

That’s it. I have decided to crown myself Princess of Vinegar Land. Because really, quite honestly, my house is soaked in the stuff.

I do not have a magic wand. I have a spray bottle with water and vinegar. Available at all times, in nearly every room.

Why? I love vinegar. If you are reading this and are from some kind of vinegar corporation, or the National Vinegar Association (totally made up group, I think), I would love to be your spokesperson. Because I am passionate about vinegar.

Aside from the wood furniture (well, most of it), the dishes, and the laundry (and even that gets vinegar in the rinse cycle), I clean EVERYTHING with vinegar:

counters

appliances

sinks

kitchen table and chairs

cabinets (quick wipe downs)

ceramic tile floors and laminate wood floors

carpets (light stains and use it in the steam cleaner)

toilet

mirrors

windows

bathtub and shower

Aside from that, I occasionally put it on my salad, condition my hair with the apple cider variety, soak my feet in it, kill weeds, kill ants, ease burns and bug bites, keep the drains open, clean the humidifiers and make a natural dog shampoo.

I’m sure I’m forgetting something…but you get the idea!

There is even a book on the many uses (over 400!) of vinegar. I plan on checking it out soon.

This is why I love vinegar:

It works! It cuts through dirt and grease and grime and gunk and pee and anything else nasty that’s lurking in your house.

It kills germs! Lots of them! Did you know that?!

It smells vinegary when wet, but as soon as something dries, you don’t smell anything.

It’s safe and non-toxic. You can eat the stuff, for Pete’s sake.

My kids can clean with it and I feel happy. They could lick the floor for all I care.

My pets are afraid of the spray bottle, but they don’t understand that I come in peace and am wielding something totally harmless.

I don’t have to lock up my cleaning cupboard!!! What a joy.

It’s freaking cheap. $2 for a gallon. I’ll take it.

Mix it with baking soda, and it FOAMS!!!! I love cleaning the toilet with my son, just for this little chemical reaction.

After the vinegar smell wears off, there is no obnoxious chemical smell or phony fragrance. I don’t feel the need to wear a respirator while I clean, or open up every window to escape toxic fumes.

Vinegar feels CLEAN. No sticky residue. No dyes. No perfumes. No buildup. No nothing.

So, I have created another terrible video for your viewing pleasure. Please don’t judge too harshly–it’s hard to videotape, think and clean at the same time.

Comments:

When I came back to redo the spots on the floor, they really did mop right up. Occasionally I will get a really sticky spot that I have to hand scrub, but vinegar really works great.

If you try vinegar on your own floors, keep in mind that you may have residue from your previous cleaner. So, it may take a few times before you see how clean vinegar looks and feels.

I didn’t have time to go back and show the stove, either, but it was the same thing–the food wiped up so easily!

Not sure why I left the water on while cleaning the sink. It’s not necessary.

I also clean the mirror with my spray bottle, but thought the video might come out funny if I showed that.

I didn’t have time to show cleaning the tub. I usually spray with vinegar and then sprinkle with baking soda for extra scrubbing power.

If you haven’t used vinegar to clean before now, it may seem a little strange (and smelly) at first. But trust me–it really is a fantastic, all-purpose cleaner. I will never go back to anything else.

This week’s treat is healthy! *gasp* I know, who would have thought that I’d post a treat that was good for you?

Browsing through the freezer section at Wegman’s for quick and easy ice cream treats for the kids, I became very dismayed. Ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, carageenan, guar gum, hydrogenated oil, artificial flavors and artificial colors were rampant.

Then I remembered that I bought some popsicle molds at Target last year, and I decided to experiment.

First, I made a banana-chocolate concoction.

I used about a cup of skim milk, one and a half small bananas, a few heaping spoonfuls of cocoa, and one packet of Stevia in the Raw. If you haven’t heard of stevia, it is an herb that is used as an all-natural sweetener, with zero calories and no harmful effects. I put all of the ingredients in my blender and poured them into my molds. The recipe above filled up 4 molds.

These are currently in my freezer, but the initial liquid was a HUGE hit with my kids.

Next, I decided to try something a little healthier (although I don’t think the chocolate ones were all that bad).

I had half of a banana left over, so I threw that in the blender, along with some frozen strawberries, some plain yogurt, another packet of Stevia in the Raw, and some water to make it blendable. I probably could have added some juice, but all we had was orange, and I am not a fan of orange and strawberry together.

I am usually not interested in treats that don’t involve chocolate, but I gotta say that I’m pretty excited to try these.

And for someone who can’t stand cooking (I know, this isn’t really cooking–but it involves ingredients and mixing), I found this to be super simple and very fast.

Now I am obsessed. I keep dreaming up popsicle concoctions…lemonade with floating blueberries (read that one online somewhere), creamy peach with coconut, strawberry lime…

And the best part? I can control what I put in them, I’m not creating waste by throwing away wrappers and/or sticks, and they are much cheaper to make.

Tipnut.com, one of my favorite sites, has a list of over 50 popsicle recipes, and some are just for the adults! Some of my favorites that I am dying to try are:

Watermelon mint

Chocolate dipped, white chocolate berry

Rocky road fudge

Vietnamese coffee

Peach riesling and coconut cream

Easy, creamy lemon dream

Mojito

Ummm, yeah. So why would I want to eat a standard popsicle now? Exactly.

The only thing I might change is to find some molds that I know are BPA-free (it’s hard to tell if my current molds have BPA).

I found that Tovolo makes some, in star, blue rocket, or “groovy” shapes:

I have seen them at Amazon.com and Target.com (not sure if they’re in the stores).

Kinderville also makes a silicone, push-up style mold:

These can also be found at Amazon.com.

In fact, if you go to Amazon and type in “BPA free popsicle molds” in the search engine, you will find quite a few options, including stainless steel molds.

Let me know if you’ve seen any others, especially in stores, since some people prefer not to order online. Also, got a great popsicle recipe you’d like to share? Pass it along!

Peace. And happy popsicle eating.

One of the problems with being a chemical warrior princess (or prince) is that you are often left feeling powerless.

Toxic chemicals are everywhere, and they are not just seeping out of smokestacks or finding their way into rivers from toxic waste sites. They are in our food, water, personal care products, toys, and everyday household items like mattresses, televisions, and couches.

The government, while slowly waking up to the health and environmental disasters that are being created by these chemicals, is still easily swayed by lobbyists and the interests of big business.

Fortunately, there are many organizations out there who are working to stop this madness.

Below, I have listed several links where you can go and send a letter to your members of Congress or to the CEO’s of companies about various issues. The letters are already written for you. All you have to do is fill in your name, address, email address, and phone number, then press send. It takes less than one minute. These are non-profit groups who will not send you spam or sell your information.

Please consider taking action! The only way that we will make the world safer for ourselves and our children is to urge Congress to pass stricter laws and to voice our opinions to the companies who continue to poison us.

I leave you with these quotes:

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.” — Ghandi

“Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.” — Ghandi

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” –Margaret Mead

I just picked up a new book at the library called “Slow Death by Rubber Duck: The Secret Danger of Everyday Things” by Rick Smith and Bruce Lourie.

I know what you’re probably thinking: “Oh geez, here she goes again with more bad news. Now we really can’t do anything.”

Yes, there is bad news, but so far I also find the book to be very hopeful, since it talks about positive ways to make a change.

Because of this, I decided I would do a whole series of posts on it. It is a fascinating book, and I think we can all learn some great things from it.

So, I will start the posts with some statistics that come from the book’s preface. Some numbers to mull over:

1.5 million — the number of new cases of cancer expected to be diagnosed in 2009

$55 billion — the estimated annual costs of childhood illnesses and disabilities from environmental causes, from a national study conducted in 2002

4.1 billion pounds — the amount of toxic chemicals “disposed of or released into the American environment” in one year

42 billion pounds — the amount of chemicals that are manufactured or brought into the United States each day

82,000 — the number of chemicals used in the United States

700 — the number of new chemicals added each year

650 — the number of chemicals that are monitored by the Toxic Release Inventory

200 — the number of chemicals that have been tested for toxicity

5 — the number of chemicals that have banned under the Toxic Substances Control Act

If you didn’t think that chemicals were having much of an impact on your life, or if you thought that the government was doing a good job of regulating the safety of these chemicals, think again. And stay tuned for more posts about the rubber duck!

Peace.

I used to think that MSG (monosodium glutamate) was only found in Chinese food and some canned soups, and I used to think that only people with allergies to MSG had to worry about it.

But then I came across the work of Dr. Russell Blaylock and discovered three things:

MSG is very toxic, especially to the brain.

There are many different forms of glutamate, all of which are similar to MSG and cause the same damage.

MSG and its relatives are in just about every packaged, processed food you can buy.

So, for all of you who are still living in ignorant bliss (and trust me, it is no fun discovering that half of what you eat has MSG in it), here are the depressing facts.

MYTH: MSG only causes allergic reactions. If I am not allergic to MSG, I don’t have to worry about it.

FACT: MSG does much more than cause allergic reactions. MSG is actually a dangerous, toxic substance that you should stay away from!

MSG causes migraine headaches.

MSG can cause asthma symptoms, or make asthma symptoms worse.

MSG causes brain damage. MSG, aspartate (Aspartame), and L-cysteine are all classified as excitotoxins. When the neurons in your brain are exposed to these excitotoxins, they become so “excited” that they exhaust themselves, and eventually, die. This brain damage can affect intelligence, memory, behavior, hormones, emotions–basically any function of the brain.

MSG causes lesions in the hypothalamus. In English, this means that MSG causes damage to the hypothalamus, a small part of the brain that controls many important functions, such as emotions, hunger, immunity, memory, and anger. For an in-depth look at this problem, click here.

MSG can contribute to or worsen neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia, ADD, ALS, MS, and autism. Dr. Blaylock believes that the astonishing rise in these disorders over the last 50 years is partially due to the addition of MSG and other glutamates to our food.

MSG is fuel for cancer. It not only causes cancer, but it also makes existing cancer cells more mobile, allowing them to spread like wildfire. Dr. Blaylock calls MSG “cancer fertilizer.” MSG also makes chemotherapy less effective.

MSG causes obesity. MSG makes food taste so good that it is difficult to stop eating. It is addicting. That is why it is so hard to put down the bag of Doritos, which have three different forms of glutamate. Basically, it makes it difficult for you to turn off your appetite. It also makes people crave more sugar and refined carbohydrates.

When researchers want to make lab rats fat, they feed them MSG.

If you add MSG to your diet, but keep your caloric intake and exercise levels the same, you will gain weight.

MSG induced obesity is almost impossible to control with diet and exercise.

MSG can cause or worsen seizures. Dr. Blaylock found that when he eliminated MSG from people’s diets and gave them magnesium, he was often able to take them off of their seizure medications.

MSG causes endocrine and reproductive disorders.

MSG causes retinal degeneration. In English, this means that your retina is affected, and you could end up with impaired vision, blindness, tunnel vision, or a detached retina.

MSG can cause sudden cardiac death. This is because your heart has glutamate receptors. So, when you have a meal that is high in MSG, you may be giving your body and your heart way more glutamate than it can handle. Dr. Blaylock found that sudden cardiac death was often preceded by a meal at a restaurant, where high amounts of MSG are frequently added to the food. People with low magnesium levels and heart arrythmias are especially at-risk.

MSG can cause depression and anxiety.

For a complete list of MSG related symptoms and illnesses, click here. Then click on, “Symptoms of MSG Sensitivity.”

MYTH: If a food label doesn’t have “MSG” listed on it, it’s not in the product.

FACT: Food manufacturers are sneaky! MSG may be hidden under different names. There are many forms of glutamate that act exactly the same as, or worse than, MSG.

The following information is taken from www.msgexposed.com:

Sources of MSG include: MSG, Monosodium Glutamate, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Vegetable Protein, Hydrolyzed Plant Protein, Plant Protein Extract, Sodium Caseinate, Calcium Caseinate, Yeast Extract, Textured Protein, Autolyzed Protein, Autolyzed Yeast, and Hydrolyzed Oat Flour.

Additives frequently containing MSG: Malt Extract, Malt Flavoring, Bouillon, Broth, Stock, Flavoring, Natural Flavoring, Natural Beef or Chicken Flavoring, Seasoning and Spices.

Additives that may contain MSG or Excitotoxins: Carrageenan, Enzymes, Soy Protein Concentrate, Soy Protein Isolate, and Protein Concentrate. Protease enzymes of various sources can release excitotoxin amino acids from food proteins.

Foods to watch out for include: Soybean milk (naturally high in glutamate/often has hydrolyzed vegetable protein added to it), kombu, miso, and soy sauces.

MYTH: If a food label says “No MSG” this means that there isn’t MSG in the product.

FACT: Again, food manufacturers are sneaky! If they say that there’s no MSG, it can still be hidden under one of the names above. As long as the glutamate is not 99% pure MSG, the label does not need to say “MSG.”

Before I knew better, I made this mistake with Campbell’s Select Harvest soups. The label says no added MSG, but if you look carefully, there is a note that says : “Except for the small amount naturally occurring in yeast extract.”

Make no mistake! There is NOTHING natural about yeast extract or autolyzed yeast extract. These are substances that have been modified and isolated, and they are neither healthy or natural! Furthermore, they have the same effects on your body as regular MSG.

MYTH: Glutamate can’t be that bad. It occurs naturally in some foods, like tomatoes.

FACT: That is true. There are some natural foods that have glutamate. However, the glutamate in these foods is part of a chain of amino acids, whereas the glutamate in MSG (or any of the substances listed above) is an isolated amino acid. Your body does not handle isolated amino acids well, because they allow the glutamate to enter your bloodstream much faster and at higher concentrations than the naturally occurring glutamate. Natural glutamates are absorbed slowly and safely.

If you are extremely sensitive to MSG, you may want to avoid these foods. However, from a health standpoint, they do not inflict the same kind of damage as manufactured glutamates.

MYTH: Well, it still can’t be that bad. The government and the FDA wouldn’t allow companies to put such a toxic substance in our food.

FACT: If you still believe this, then you haven’t been reading my blog! The government and the FDA frequently turn a blind eye to many toxic substances, even though they are well aware of their dangerous effects.

It turns out that the production of MSG, its use in food, and the resulting health care from MSG’s harmful effects all add up to a profitable business. The government, ever swayed by big business and lobbyists, has no intention of banning MSG.

MYTH: If I buy food from a health food store, or I buy vegetarian food, it will not have MSG.

FACT: I wish I could say this was true, but sadly, it’s not. This was one of the biggest mistakes that I made. MSG is everywhere, even the natural and organic brands. Here are a few of my so-called healthy choices, all of which contain some form of glutamate:

Out of that group of products, I thought the healthiest was the veggie burger! Boy was I mistaken. That product has four definite sources of MSG, and three possible sources of MSG.

I just want to throw up when I think of all the times I fed my kids those things, thinking I was being a healthy, vegetarian Momma. The same thing goes for Goldfish. How many afternoon snacks were full of what I thought was a cute, relatively healthy cracker? I want to punch someone for putting a harmful additive into something that seems so innocuous.

Sadly, children’s brains are much more susceptible to the effects of MSG than adult brains. Want to protect them? Then make sure you read your labels and be on the lookout for this stuff.

Note: The information for this post came from books, articles, and interviews that I have read by and about Dr. Russell Blaylock. Dr. Blaylock was a neurosurgeon who now devotes most of his time to nutritional studies. His primary interests are brain function and excitotoxins.

I was so shocked and impressed by his work that I decided to subscribe to his monthly newsletter, which I highly recommend. It is $40 per year, but you have access to all past newsletters when you subscribe.

Peace.

With Independence Day right around the corner, I think it is timely to reprint this article about the flu vaccine, which may soon become a threat to some of your basic freedoms.

The following is a reprint from Natural News.com, an independent newsletter on natural health.

(Natural News) A remarkable article was published today by authors Richard Gale and Dr. Gary Null of the Progressive Radio Network (http://www.progressiveradionetwork.com). It may be the most shocking (and important) public health article published in the last two years. If you read just one health article this entire month, make it this one.

The article is remarkable not just for its timeliness on the issue of mandatory vaccinations and public health policy, but also for its damning evidence that exposes the fraud and quackery of the vaccine industry (as well as the corruption at the CDC and WHO).

As you’ll read below, flu vaccines remain a mainstay modern medicine only because they provide a reliable source of profits for the pharmaceutical industry which now virtually dictates public health policy thanks to its powerful lobbying resources. And the CDC, for its part, has now become little more than the regulatory branch of Big Pharma, pushing vaccines on the entire population even though the scientific evidence reveals quite clearly that flu vaccines simply do not work. (Vitamin D actually works far better at preventing flu infections, but the CDC won’t recommend vitamin D to anyone.)

What you’re about to read below is absolutely shocking. If you’re a reader of NaturalNews, you probably already realized the vaccine industry was a sham, but I bet you didn’t know just how deep this rabbit hole really goes… until now.

That’s why I’m reprinting the entire article by Richard Gale and Dr. Gary Null below. Here’s a link to the original source: http://smirkingchimp.com/thread/ric…

Give this article a serious read. It is one of the most important articles you’ll ever find on this topic. Dr. Gary Null, you may already know, is one of the most brilliant researchers, thinkers and writers in the health freedom field, and I’ve come to respect his work a great deal. I don’t yet personally know Richard Gale, but his words carry tremendous weight.

If you link to this story from your own web page, be sure to give proper credit to the original authors (Richard Gale and Gary Null). The bold emphasis in the article below is my own (I added it). I also added subheads for improved organization of the article.

CDC Votes in Favor of a Flu Vaccination Assault on Americans’ Health

by Richard Gale and Gary Null, the Progressive Radio Network

A central principle of democracy is freedom of choice. We can choose our political party, our religion, and the food we eat, but this does not seem to be the case when it comes to our medical choices and our freedoms to make them.

The recent unanimous 11-0 vote by the members of the Centers for Disease Control’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) favoring every American over the age of six months receive the flu influenza vaccine is one more attempt by our federal health officials to open up our bodies to the free market capitalism of pharmaceutical coffers. It is another step to mandate a vaccine across the nation, a policy that has many supporters in the pro-vaccine science community.

The vote raises an alarm about our federal government’s scientific integrity, and calls into question its true allegiance and purpose: to protect the health of American citizens or increase Big Pharma profits. If the recommendation were ever enforced, the US would be the only nation in the world with mandatory flu vaccination. However, what our investigations show and what differentiates the US health agencies from the health ministries in other nations, is that in the US federal health system Big Pharma money, lobbying and corporate favors are what shape drug and vaccine policies and this is rampant throughout the system.

Mandatory vaccines fail in Japan

Mandatory influenza vaccination has been tried before across a nation. During the 1980s, Japan had mandatory flu vaccination for school children. Two large scale studies that enrolled children from four cities with vaccination rates between 1 and 90 percent discovered no difference in the incidences of flu infection. As a result, in 1987, Japanese health authorities ruled that flu vaccination was ineffective and was no more than a serious financial and legal liability if it was to continue. The mandatory policy was quickly overturned. By 1989, the number of Japanese taking the flu vaccine dropped to 20 percent. A follow up study at that time found that there was statistically insignificant change in influenza infection rates compared to when the vaccine was mandatory.[1]

Now we are hearing that for the forthcoming 2010-2011 flu season, the H1N1 flu strain will be included in the seasonal flu vaccine. This will be a quadravalent vaccine comprised of four strains including the H1N1. As of this month, the World Health Organization (WHO) continues to evaluate the H1NI virus at a 5 level pandemic and issues warnings to deaf ears now that people realize the WHO’s word is disreputable. Nevertheless, we should still brace ourselves for another year of old yarn, fear-mongering, media spin and more voodoo science.

A brief overview of the past H1N1 pandemic boondoggle will help us to understand the addiction of denial permeating the ranks of the CDC’s advisory committee. It presents a picture of a delusional bubble, unrelated to medical facts, that the CDC has found comfort to float within. The simple fact remains that the CDC is disconnected from anything resembling legitimate science thereby making their recent decision ludicrous and criminally irresponsible.

The CDC’s predictions of particular strains during past flu seasons has never been especially accurate. In fact, often it has been extraordinarily dismal. The previous swine flu prediction in 1976 resulted in only one swine flu death but hundreds of people suffering permanent disabilities, including death, from the vaccine. For the 1992-1993 flu season, the prediction made for the virus used in the vaccine was off by 84 percent. For the 1994-1995 season, it was off by 43 percent for the primary strain targeted and off 87 percent and 76 percent for the other two strains. The Laboratory Center for Disease Control’s study comparing vaccine strains with the strains appearing during the 1997-1998 season found the match off by 84 percent. One would achieve a greater accuracy rate by simply flipping a coin.

The CDC’s scare tactics

An article published in the prestigious British Medical Journal in 2005, “Are US Flu Death Figures More PR Than Science” is apropos for addressing the wildly inflated figures by the WHO and CDC to present their case for mass vaccination measures. The article begins, “US data on influenza deaths are a mess.” The study reviews the CDC’s own statistical data and finds numerous inconsistencies and incompatibilities between “official estimates and national vital statistics data.” Although the government’s predictions never came close to the “dire outcomes” stated by our health officials, the CDC’s own communication strategy was marked by high levels of fear.[2]

The US government’s assessment of the past H1N1 scare is another example of flawed science and incompetence. In last August’s issue of USA Today, the White House’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, which receives its recommendations from the CDC, warned us that the H1N1 would kill between 30-90,000 American citizens. At the same time, the CDC was predicting 2 million people would be infected and as high as 40 percent of the entire population. The WHO, which sleeps in the same bed with the CDC in their shared complexes in Atlanta, was screaming figures of 7.5 million deaths worldwide. Consequently, the FDA fast-tracked swine flu vaccines manufactured by 5 different drug makers, none which met reliable standards of viable clinical testing and data to determine their efficacy and safety.

And pregnant women, young children and the elderly were primary targets — those also most susceptible to serious vaccine adverse reactions. Over $1.6 billion tax dollars went to Big Pharma on orders of 229 million doses, of which only 90 million were actually administered and the remaining 71 million left to decompose on shelves or dump off on poorer nations out of the graciousness of the American philanthropic spirit.

However, as we witnessed in 2009 and the early months of 2010, people woke up to the false alarm of a swine flu pandemic. Often intuition is better suited to sniff out a hoax and scandal than the pseudo-science our federal health officials give obeisance to behind closed door conference rooms. And in the case of the so-called H1N1 pandemic, intuition proved correct. Our health agencies’ warnings and numbers propagandized over mainstream media simply did not add up and have been consistently found to be contrary to more medically reliable and unbiased facts generated by independent sources without ties to the private vaccine manufacturers.

Whenever the CDC, the FDA and the US Department of Health and Human Services post figures, it is a prudent rule of thumb to be suspicious and investigate their accuracy. The fact of the matter is that the CDC is completely clueless about this past season’s flu infection rate and the number of deaths due to the H1N1 strain. Let us explain why.

No proper testing was ever conducted

Immediately following the WHO’s decision in May 2009 to cease laboratory testing of samples to determine the actual biological cause of infectious cases with influenza-like symptoms, the US followed suit. Therefore, no matter what they tell you, no matter what Dr. Gupta and other tools of the media and establishment have to say, no proper testing was performed. Only PCR technology can determine the actual subset of a Type A flu strain, such as H1N1. But PCR diagnosis was not routinely performed in order to monitor and track rates and the spread of infection. By its own admission, a CDC report found that rapid influenza kits used in hospitals and clinics were wrong as much as nine out of ten times, and on average between 40-69 percent. The CDC determined that the instant tests are “not highly worthwhile for diagnosing H1N1 infections.”

So why would any organization responsible for the tracking of an infectious disease believed to be a global health threat, potentially threatening the lives of millions of people, make such a decision to not carefully monitor flu infections is beyond comprehension, unless it knowingly determined, with malice of forethought, that the H1N1 strain was mild and not a national danger. And many independent experts in infectious diseases had been stating this throughout the season but our health agencies preferred to ignore their warnings.

Yet it is the reported death rates due to H1N1 infection that seriously call the CDC’s integrity into question. According to the CDC reports, anywhere between 8,870 and 18,300 Americans died from swine flu. For the sake of simplicity, the health feds conveniently circulate the figure of 12,000 deaths.

Projections in the UK were equally off the mark. The British Ministry of Health was expecting 65,000 deaths, but reported only 500 towards the season’s end. British citizens, however, were better informed of the scandalous hoax and of the 110 million vaccine doses purchased, under contracts amounting to over $864 million to the drug makers (not including national preparatory measures bringing the total to over $1 billion for a small population), only 6 million Brits, approximately 10 percent, were vaccinated.

What figures does the World Health Organization report for the number of worldwide swine flu deaths? 18,036. That is correct, not millions. That is only 5 percent of the global figure for deaths associated with the regular seasonal flu. I don’t need an advanced degree to notice a grave discrepancy here, unless we are to believe that the H1N1 virus was on autopilot to target victims with American birth certificates or citizenship. But the reasons for the CDC’s erroneous numbers are quite easy to understand.

The CDC’s flawed statistics

First, as mentioned, the CDC did not monitor the swine flu with any precision and accuracy. Our officials don’t have, and never had, the data to make any accurate determination.

Second, the CDC does not distinguish between deaths caused by an influenza virus and deaths due to pneumonia. The two are lumped together in their mortality statistics and pneumonia-related deaths are reported as having an initial influenza cause. For example, if we take the combined figure of flu and pneumonia deaths for the flu period of 2001, and spin the figures, we are left believing that 62,034 people died from influenza. The actual figures are 61,777 died from pneumonia and only 257 from flu.

Even more amazing, in those 257 cases, only 18 were scientifically identified as positive for the flu virus. These are the CDC’s own figures. But does the New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post and all the others report this? No. Do any of the puppets that mumble on television, with access to official sources and data, actually do their homework? No.

A separate study conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics for the flu periods between 1979 and 2002 reveals that the actual range of annual flu deaths were between 257 and 3006, for an average of 1,348 per year.[3] This is a far cry from the 36,000 annual flu deaths still found on the CDC’s website and vomited by the major media.

And here is the catch. If we apply the same criteria to determine the actual number of swine flu related deaths in 2009-2010, serious vaccine adverse effects, besides the hundreds of reported miscarriages, would far outweigh deaths and injury due to the virus.

Third, there are over 150 different viruses during any given flu season that can cause flu-like symptoms, such as adenovirus, parainfluenza, bocavirus, etc. Very few of these are ever tested. For example, in Canada where actual infection rates are more carefully monitored, during the 2004-2005 flu season, the Canada Communicable Disease Report showed that of the 68,849 laboratory tests performed for influenza, only 14.9% tested positive for a flu virus. The remaining 85.1% specimens were a result of other pathogens impervious to flu vaccines.[4] For the following 2005-2006 season, Health Canada received 68,439 tests for influenza like infections. Of these, only 6,580, or 10.4% confirmed positive for influenza. The rest, 89.6%, were other pathogens.[5] So no vaccine would have benefitted or protected those almost 90 percent in Canadians.

In the US, however, the CDC relies upon an esoteric witch’s brew of figures based upon various mathematical algorithms and speculative projections with no sound basis in reality. On one CDC site we find evidence of their flawed methodology: “Statistical modeling was used to estimate how many flu-related deaths occurred among people whose underlying cause of death on their death certificate was listed as a respiratory and circulatory disease.”[6] This is clearly an indication of policy turned dogmatic with utterly disregard for sound scientific evidence. It is all business as usual, negligent disregard for scientific reason, and full speed ahead.

And while the brilliant minds in the CDC decide to expose all Americans to the adverse risks of influenza vaccination — Guillain-Barre Syndrome, schizophrenia, neurological disorders, miscarriages, polyneuritis, encephalitis, multiple sclerosis, intense headaches suggestive or meningeal or brain irritation, aphasia (loss of speech), bronchopneumonia, sexual impotence, angor pectoris, anaphylactic reactions and death[7] — we should not lose sight of what is unfolding across the great pond in the European Union’s investigations into the CDC’s favorite bed partner — the WHO, an utterly corrupt organization at every level.

Corruption at the WHO

Two reports recently published have indicted the WHO for serious malfeasance and conflict in interests behind the fabrication and propagation of the 2009-2010 H1N1 swine flu pandemic and has been called a “momentous error” in global health oversight. The people at the WHO had as much accuracy in their predictions as the Bush administration did with WMDs in Iraq.

The British Medical Journal printed a research paper by its Features Editor, Deborah Cohen, and Philip Carter from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in London, charging the largest global health organization with exaggerating the H1N1 flu and being steered in their decisions and fraudulent fear campaign by the pharmaceutical industrial complex. According to the authors, “credibility of the WHO and the trust in the global public health system” has been damaged.

A second devastating preliminary report released by the Health Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (CE) found gross negligence and lack of transparency in the WHO’s handling of the swine flu scare. Throughout the WHO’s key advisory committees, particularly a secretive group known as the “emergency committee”, which steered the WHO’s assessment and predictions of the spread of H1N1 flu virus and advised them to announce a level 6 pandemic, were scientists entrenched in the morass of private vaccine and drug interests, particularly GlaxoSmithKline (H1N1 vaccine and Relenza anti-viral drug maker) and Tamiflu maker Roche AG.

Even worse, the WHO never publicly disclosed widespread conflict of interests. Paul Flynn, the rapporteur for the CE’s report stated, “the tentacles of drug company influence are in all levels of the decision-making process,” and “they vastly over-rated the danger on bad science.” Following a lengthy investigation, a preliminary report, which still awaits a final version next month, states the result of the WHO’s negligence in proper oversight resulted in the “waste of large sums of public money and unjustified scares and fears about the health risks faced by the European public”

The WHO continues to withhold the names of the 16 members sitting on its secret “emergency committee.” However, this week, two of the members resigned, notably Dr. John MacKenzie from Curtin University in Australia, who was the WHO advisor who first urged the organization to call a pandemic and is well known to be entangled in financial interests and investments with the pharmaceutical cartel.

So far the CDC has weathered the WHO controversy in Europe unscathed. A fundamental oversight in the CE’s investigation and hearings has been solely targeting the WHO. It ignores the role of government health agencies’ complicity in promulgating the H1N1 hoax and the flushing away of billions of dollars into the drug industry, especially during an economic downturn and recession. As we witness the WHO’s indifference and denial of wrongdoing crumble, the question remains over whether or not the CDC was complicit in the propagandizing of the astronomically expensive H1N1 hoax.

Of course, the vaccine industry doesn’t give a damn about the investigations. Their vaccines, anti-viral drugs, and oligarchic rule over the medical caste system make them immune to independent international scrutiny. And we can be assured none of the lap dogs at the New York Times, MSNBC and other major media would expose their crimes. In the shadow of this medical charade, the drug makers are laughing their way to the banks. No Big Pharma executive is sitting before investigative committees to give an accounting of corporations’ role in the pandemic debacle. Instead, after scoring over $6 billion (Associated Press, May 19, 2010) it is again business as usual and another flu season ahead to further increase revenues.

Financial corruption at every level

Similar to the WHO, the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Vaccination and Practice, which voted in favor of a flu vaccine-for-all policy, is equally stacked with individuals entrenched in financial ties with the vaccine and drug makers. The Committee’s Chair, Dr. Carol Baker from Baylor University, has consistently received research and educational grants and private donations from Big Pharma. She is also on the Board of Directors of the National Foundation of Infectious Diseases, a consulting body of scientists frequently wined and dined and provided perks by the pharmaceutical industrial complex.

Another Baylor University committee member, Dr. Wendy Keitel, received clinical trial support from Novartis, the maker of the H1N1 vaccine most widely distributed in the US. Dr. Janet Englund at the Children’s University Medical Group in Seattle received financial support for clinical trials favoring vaccines made by Medimmune (the nasal flu vaccine), Novartis, and Sanofi Pasteur. Dr. Cody Meissner received Big Pharma support through Tufts University for his supporting clinical trials for Medimmune’s RSV vaccine and for participation in Wyeth’s streptococcus vaccine for children, Prevnar.

To put this into greater perspective, since the FDA relies on industry-funded clinical trials and subsequent data to approve vaccines and drugs, there also appeared in the news this month a critical finding from the German Institute for Quality and Efficacy in Health Care, published in the peer-reviewed journal Trials. The study investigated 90 approved drugs in the US (and let us make no mistake, vaccines are drugs! In fact, the flu vaccine is listed as a Category C drug; which means there are no adequate safety studies to determine whether flu vaccination adversely affects pregnant mothers and their fetuses.) and discovered that 60 percent of the 900 papers were unpublished and some were concealed from the federal regulatory agencies. Forty to sixty percent omitted clinical details or changed their final analysis. Among the pharmaceutical industry studies alone, 94 percent were unpublished, and 86 percent of the university studies sponsored by drug makers remained unpublished.

What does this tell us? If they were positive results, the drug companies would without hesitation publish their findings; but if the clinical studies’ results contradict their expectations negatively, thereby delaying and preventing regulatory approval and licensure of a product, then there is no incentive for their release. And they are under no regulatory obligation to publish or produce them. Hence the American public is denied approximately 90 percent of the actual clinical data performed on any given drug or vaccine.

Quack science, useless vaccines and wasted money

The German study concludes that drug makers intentionally “conceal unfavorable results or results that do not fulfill one’s expectations.” Therefore, the vaccine and drug makers are permitted to conduct their nefarious, quack science behind closed doors with full participation and cooperation from the WHO, CDC and FDA. Of course, the CDC and FDA condone this behavior because they are completely subservient to the power and wealth of the pharmaceutical industry.

The recent CDC vote continues a tradition of denial over independent studies and reports warning of the over-exaggerated alarm and the dangers of pushing forward with an H1N1 vaccine that was not given sufficient time to prove its safety and efficacy. They even deny their own voices.

Dr. Anthony Morris is a distinguished virologist and a former Chief Vaccine Office at the FDA. His view about influenza vaccines summarizes their efficacy well. In Morris’s opinion there is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza,’ Dr. Morris states, as a matter of record, “The producers of these vaccines know they are worthless, but they go on selling them anyway.”

Canada’s Vaccination Risk Awareness Network (VRAN) website is a community of physicians, researchers and vaccine researchers and journalists reporting on vaccines’ flawed promises and pseudo-science. Among all vaccines, the flu vaccine is presented with “The Most Useless Vaccine Of-All-Time Award.”

Some of the most damning evidence about the efficacy of flu vaccines was reported in two studies performed by Dr. Tom Jefferson, head of the Vaccine Field Group at the prestigious independent Cochrane Database Group, published in The Lancet and the prestigious Cochrane Database Systems Review. The first study was a systematic review of the effects of influenza vaccines in healthy children.[8] The other was a review of all the available published and unpublished safety evidence available regarding flu vaccines.[9]

The authors of the study had also contacted the lead scientists or research groups for all the efficacy and safety trial studies under their review in order to gain access to additional unpublished trial studies the corporations may possess. The conclusions are shocking. The only safety study performed with an inactivated flu vaccine was conducted in 1976. Thirty-four years ago! And that single study enrolled only 35 children aged 12-28 months. Every other subsequent inactivated flu vaccine study enrolled children 3 years or older.

Dr. Jefferson told Reuters, “Immunization of very young children is not lent support by our findings. We recorded no convincing evidence that vaccines can reduce mortality, [hospital] admissions, serious complications and community transmission of influenza. In young children below the age of 2, we could find no evidence that the vaccine was different from a placebo.”[10] With respect to adults, in 64 studies involving 66,000 adults, Jefferson noted, “Vaccination of healthy adults only reduced risk of influenza by 6 percent and reduced the number of missed work days by less than one day. There was no change in the number of hospitalizations compared to the non-vaccinated.”

And in another interview for the German magazine Der Spiegel on July 21, 2009, Jefferson seems to conclude his analysis of the H1N1 scare, “Sometimes you get the feeling that there is a whole industry almost waiting for a pandemic to occur. The WHO and public health officials, virologists and the pharmaceutical companies. They’ve built this machine around the impending pandemic. And there’s a lot of money involved, and influence, and careers, and entire institutions! And all it took was one of these viruses to mutate to start the machine grinding.”

Clearly there is no rationale for submitting the American population to a vaccine with higher risks of adverse effects than its record of efficacy in preventing flu infection. If the CDC’s vote withstands and were to ever become the law in the land, we will witness one of the largest crimes ever inflicted upon the American public, solely for corporate gain. Aside from rampant adverse effects in children, many that will not appear until their later years due to the number of toxins contained in flu vaccines, there will also be thousands of women having miscarriages. We will have entered a new medical twilight zone, where true science, responsible medical practice, and reliable public health become virtually nonexistent.

I can’t believe that it’s Friday dessert night already!

This has been one heck of a week for me, and so I felt the need for a truly amazing dessert.

Enter Phillips European Restaurant.

If you have never been to Phillips, or never had their dessert, you are missing out on one of life’s best experiences.

I may be a sugar addict, but I don’t surrender my calories to just any old sugar. If I’m gonna have dessert, it better be worth it. And Phillips’ desserts are totally worth every calorie.

But let’s not think about that. Let’s look at tonight’s dessert and drool.

On the left, we have the peanut butter torte, my husband’s choice. And on the right, we have the chocolate tiramisu torte, my choice. This basically combines my two all-time favorite desserts: chocolate cake and tiramisu.

Here is a list of just some of the desserts you can find at Phillips:

Double chocolate fudge torte

Chocolate raspberry torte

German chocolate torte

Chocolate raspberry torte

Bailey’s and cream torte

Carrot cake

Lemon mousse torte

Cheesecake (several varieties)

Brownies

Sundaes

Pies

Cherry berry cheesecake

Obviously, dessert at Phillips is fantastic. And when I went there today, I discovered that they are holding a wonderful summer special. Every Monday through Saturday from 2-6 p.m. you can get a half slice of dessert (and trust me, this is plenty for a delightful experience) for just $2. You can eat in or take out. I have a feeling that this is going to be very, very bad for my waistline.

Dessert happy hour? I love it.

And since this week calls for some extra splurging, my second treat of the week is this:

John Cusack

That’s right. When John heard I was having dessert from Phillips, he called me up and said he would be right over, especially since my husband is working tonight. We are going to watch his new flick, “Hot Tub Time Machine.”

Okay, so most of that is a total lie, but I’m only admitting that because I’m afraid someone important will read this and sue me for telling lies on the internet.

Besides, do you really think that I would ever share my dessert with anyone? I don’t care if it is John Cusack, the cutest man alive–he will not be touching my chocolate tiramisu torte.

Anyway, whatever you are doing this evening, I hope that something yummy is involved.

Peace.

This is kind of a strange post for me. Why? Because I am what you would call a low-maintenance kind of girl. I have short hair that rarely gets styled. If I am going out in public, I might put on some mascara and blush, depending on my destination. Dressed up for me is what the rest of the world might call a normal day.

So it’s a little weird that here I am talking about what you can do to get a “summer glow.” Maybe it’s because I miss those days when we could just go run around on the beach and not have to worry about slathering on some sunscreen. Or maybe it’s because despite my tomboy-esque appearance, I am still fascinated by all things girly and sparkly.

So here they are-some natural ways to look like you’ve spent all day lounging in the sun, without having to actually lounge in the sun. Annnnnndddd without having to use any nasty chemicals, either.

But before you look at the video, just remember that one of the best ways to “glow” is to take care of yourself inside as well!

Eat healthy foods

Drink plenty of water

Exercise

Get plenty of rest and sleep

Here’s to the beach! (Or at least looking like you went there).

It seems that cancer is everywhere these days. If you haven’t had it yourself, you probably know at least one person who has. Cancer rates are skyrocketing, and the treatments we use today are not much more effective than the ones we used 50 years ago.

What bothers me the most is that we spend so much time talking about cancer screenings and conventional cancer treatments, but we focus so little on how to prevent cancer.

Yes, occasionally such information does make its way to the mainstream, but it is not the focus. Nutrition, especially, is often overlooked or downplayed, which is a travesty. When you look at the list below, you will see that some of our most powerful weapons against cancer come from fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, teas, and other plant-based foods.

I’m sure there are things missing from my list, but these are some of the major suggestions.

Just try not to get too stressed out when reading it. Remember that every little bit helps, but it is not always possible to live in accordance with these principles. Everything I read says that emotions are probably the biggest contributor to disease, so limiting yourself too much or stressing about what you can’t do won’t help anything. Remember: Everything in balance and moderation.

Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables (strive for at least 10 a day, not 5). Organic produce is best, but any produce is better than none!

Get rid of the “whites”–white flour, white rice, white sugar, white potatoes…and opt for whole grains. Be sure you check your labels!

Eat raw, unsalted nuts and seeds.

Eat artichokes.

Eat a citrus fruit every day.

Eat sprouts.

Eat red grapes, which are high in resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant.

Eat tomatoes, which are high in lycopene. Cooked tomato products, such as tomato sauce, are actually higher in lycopene.

Eat garlic, onions, and peppers.

Eat mushrooms, especially the “exotic” varieties.

Eat berries.

Eat kiwis.

Eat mint.

Eat a cruciferous vegetable every day (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, beets, brussels sprouts).

Use more herbs and spices on your foods. Powerful cancer inhibitors are: turmeric, ginger, cayenne pepper, rosemary, sage, parsley, oregano, and cinnamon. I put cinnamon on my cereal and a variety of herbs, including turmeric, on my salads.

Use turmeric. It can cut off blood supply to a tumor. Combine it with black pepper for an even greater potency. (Turmeric can also be found in capsule form. It may be labeled “curcumin”).

Take the rainforest herb “cat’s claw.” (Cat’s claw is also found in Herbal Aloe Force, a product I recently raved about).

Drink tea. Rooibos, green, black and ginger teas are particularly good cancer-fighters. You can also buy green tea extract.

Limit alcohol to one drink a day for women, 2 drinks a day for men. Organic red wine is best.

Cut back on all forms of sugar. Cancer thrives on sugar, and insulin resistance is one of the major causes of many diseases.

Limit fat consumption, but don’t be afraid of healthy fats, such as those found in nuts, seeds, avocados, and olives.

Limit red meat consumption.

Stay away from processed meats.

Choose meats, eggs, and dairy products that come from free-range, grass-fed animals that haven’t been given hormones and antibiotics.

Eat wild salmon, sardines, walnuts or flaxseed oil, or get a good omega-3 supplement. I like krill oil.

Stay away from the following oils: corn, canola, sunflower, safflower, vegetable. Use olive oil or coconut oil.

Skip the processed foods, which are usually full of hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, and MSG (which can be hidden under many different names).

Stay away from artificial dyes and colors in foods and personal care products.

Watch out for canned food items–the cans may have a liner that contains BPA.

Don’t eat deep-fried foods.

Grill foods over low heat. Coating them in a thick marinade also helps to prevent charring.

Drink plenty of clean water daily.

Exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Walking is great.

Practice deep breathing.

Find ways to relax, have fun, and take time for yourself.

Laugh long and hard and loud.

Spend time with people you love. Find a good support system.

Deal with your emotions. Talk about them, write about them, yell about them, sing, dance, or paint about them…whatever it takes to get them out.

Do yoga, tai chi, and/or pilates, which help to get the lymphatic system moving.

Get a massage.

Practice breast massage.

Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night.

Quit smoking (okay, maybe not so simple, but really important!)

Get regular check-ups.

Take a high-quality multivitamin and mineral supplement.

Make sure you get enough vitamin D. Current research shows that most people lack enough vitamin D to give them the wonderful protection that vitamin D provides, and that the government’s current recommendations are far too low. Either get some natural sunlight every day (10-20 minutes of early morning or late afternoon sun without sunscreen), or take a high-quality vitamin D3 supplement. Recommendations: 1200 IU/day for children, 2000 IU/day for adolescents, 5000 IU/day for adults. Vitamin D is one of the most powerful weapons against cancer that we have. It can cut cancer occurrence and death rates in half.

If you will be out in the sun for awhile, make sure you use a sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays. The EWG recommends mineral sunscreens that contain zinc or titanium oxide. Reapply every 2 hours, after swimming, or after sweating.

Wear sunglasses, hats, and protective clothing.

Get at least 55 micrograms of selenium a day. Brazil nuts are also high in selenium.

Do not use pesticides or herbicides in or around your home (this includes lawn chemicals).

Use natural, toxin-free cleaning products. Vinegar, baking soda, lemons, and olive oil can clean just about anything in the house.

Don’t buy clothes that need to be dry cleaned.

Do not use anything with artificial fragrances, including candles, air fresheners, cleaning products, detergents, fabric softeners, personal care products, and perfumes.

Switch to natural, toxin-free personal care products. Use the EWG’s Skin Deep website to test your own products, or search for alternatives.

Do not use birth control pills or synthetic hormone replacement.

Do not heat food in plastic containers, or use plastic wrap in the microwave. Do not drink from plastic water bottles that have been heated by the sun. (The more you can stay away from plastic, the better).

Do not let children chew on soft, plastic toys.

Limit cell phone use, and turn it off when you’re not using it.

Limit x-rays, mammograms, and other forms of radiation.

Reduce your exposure to EMF’s.

Peace.
